Taiwan’s Ministry of Justice has disclosed that the government currently holds 210.45 BTC as seized assets.
Disclosure of seized bitcoin
The ministry said the bitcoin was confiscated in cases involving financial crimes and illegal digital transactions.
The disclosure was highlighted in a post shared by Bitcoin Magazine.
The post stated:
“BREAKING: The Ministry of Justice has just revealed that Taiwan now holds 210.45 Bitcoin in seized assets.”
No liquidation plan announced
Officials did not announce any plan to sell the bitcoin, auction it, or convert it into fiat currency.
The report did not include details on how the assets are custodied or how Taiwan will manage them going forward.
Taiwan joins other government holders
Taiwan’s disclosure places it among governments that hold bitcoin through seizures rather than an explicit reserve policy.
Taiwan has not announced a national bitcoin strategy alongside the disclosure.
