Strategy has now gone three straight weeks without buying or selling a single bitcoin, even as it keeps spending heavily on its own preferred shares.
Holdings frozen at 845,050 coins
Monday’s 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed the company’s stack unchanged at roughly 845,050 BTC.
The aggregate cost basis stands at $63.73 billion, which works out to about $75,412 per coin.
MSTR shares edged 0.8% higher in pre-market trading, holding up against broader market weakness.
Another $139 million into STRC
Instead of adding coins, Michael Saylor’s firm drew on its USD Cash pool to repurchase about 1.42 million shares of STRC preferred stock for $139.3 million last week.
That followed $176.3 million the week before and $139.3 million the week before that, bringing the three-week total to roughly $455 million.
The buybacks show up in the cash pool itself, which has slid from about $1.59 billion in late August to $1.44 billion and then $1.30 billion.
The separate USD Reserve, earmarked for preferred dividends and debt interest, has not moved and remains at $5.10 billion.
Bitcoin eyes $80,000 before the Fed
Bitcoin traded near $77,700 at the time of writing, up around 1.3% over 24 hours.
Traders are watching whether it can clear $80,000 this week, with the Federal Open Market Committee meeting due Wednesday.
Retail sentiment on Stocktwits for both MSTR and bitcoin slid from neutral a week ago into “extremely bearish” territory over the past day.
