Bitcoin’s push above $77,000 has flipped Strategy’s massive bitcoin treasury back into the green after months of pressure, with the company now sitting on approximately $192 million in unrealized gains.
Holdings cross above cost basis
Strategy holds 840,447 BTC at an average cost of $75,385 per coin, according to data cited by WuBlockchain.
That average has served as a psychological line in the sand for the market — whenever bitcoin dips below it, Strategy’s holdings show a paper loss, and whenever price rises above it, the company shows a gain.
With bitcoin now trading well above that level after surging roughly 20% in 48 hours, the company’s balance sheet position has flipped meaningfully.
Strategy shares jumped roughly 12% to 13% this week as the price recovery took hold.
Recent BTC sales and STRC buybacks
Between August 3 and August 9, Strategy sold 1,690 BTC to repurchase 1.15 million shares of its STRC preferred stock for $108.6 million — the company’s fourth bitcoin sale of 2026.
Independent analyst William Clemente argued the price surge should ease concerns about the company’s long-term thesis:
“Not only should Saylor/Strategy fears have been abated for a while once he showed that he was willing to sell BTC to rebuy STRC, but now after this price impulse they are even more over-collateralized by their BTC holdings.”
Current CEO Phong Le told Fox News earlier in August that Strategy would return to buying bitcoin before year-end.
New support zone forming below $68,000
Onchain data from Glassnode revealed a dense cluster of cost basis activity building below $70,000.
Some 3.44 million BTC now have a realized price between $58,000 and $67,000, with 2.23 million BTC — around 11% of total supply — added over just the past 11 weeks.
Glassnode co-founder Rafael Schultze-Kraft called it the densest cost-basis cluster below spot price, describing it as a key potential support zone on any pullback.
Reclaiming key moving averages
Bitcoin also broke back above its 200-day simple moving average at $68,967 this week, a level widely seen as critical for confirming the end of the longer-term downtrend that followed the drop from $126,000.
