A bitcoin wallet that had been inactive for more than 13 years moved 909.38 BTC on Monday, worth about $84.6 million at the time.

Dormant wallet wakes up

Onchain data shows the wallet moved its entire balance at around 4:17 p.m. Monday.

The funds were consolidated into a single new address.

The wallet’s owner is unknown.

Coins date back to 2012–2013

The wallet accumulated bitcoin between December 2012 and April 2013.

During that period, bitcoin traded from a low near $13 to a peak around $250, according to the report.

Similar moves during the last rally

Several Satoshi-era wallets have resurfaced during bitcoin’s record rally last year, a trend often linked to long-term holders realizing gains.

The largest major sale was a July 2025 sale of more than 80,000 BTC executed through Galaxy Digital, which reportedly generated around $9 billion in profits.
