Japanese hotel company Metaplanet (3350) has acquired 162 BTC for $13.5 million at an average price of $83,123 per Bitcoin, the company announced.

This acquisition has boosted its year-to-date Bitcoin yield to 53.2% in 2025.

The BTC yield reflects the percentage change in the ratio of Bitcoin holdings to fully diluted shares outstanding over a given period.

As of March 12, Metaplanet holds 3,050 BTC valued at approximately $253.7 million, with an average purchase price of $83,180 per Bitcoin.

Bond issuance

To support its ongoing Bitcoin accumulation, the company has issued 2 billion JPY ($13.5 million) in zero-interest ordinary bonds.

The funds raised will be used to acquire additional Bitcoin.

Share performance

At the time of the announcement, Metaplanet’s shares were trading at 3,630 yen, nearly 50% lower than its all-time high in February.
