The Tokyo-listed company announced the acquisition on Tuesday, pushing its total Bitcoin holdings to 2,235 BTC.
Growth strategy
Metaplanet has aggressively increased its Bitcoin reserves, up from 1,761 BTC at the end of 2024 and just 141 BTC in mid-2024.
The firm designated Bitcoin treasury operations as a core business in December, with plans to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026.
Stock performance
Despite the Bitcoin purchase, Metaplanet’s stock declined 1.3% during the morning trading session in Japan.
However, the stock remains up 67.5% year-to-date and has surged 233.7% over the past year, according to Google Finance.
